The Vine Collection
Primitive and powerful, yet naturally elegant, the Vine collection features hand twisted ironwork as intricate as anything crafted by Mother Nature.
From traditional to contemporary and every style in between, Kalco designs lighting fixtures that will complement any environment. Their lighting designs are completely hand-crafted, making every piece an original work of art. Their teams carefully design and craft each product, incorporating rich details. Unique materials and accents, such as crystal, stone, leather and shell, create the perfect finishing touch.
Kalco's products begin as premium iron stock, which is heated in a fire pit and shaped with a hammer and anvil by skilled artisans whose craft has been honed by years of training. Artisans at their Las Vegas, Nevada factory hand paint their products, using many layering techniques to create the rich finishes that have become Kalco's hallmark.
A range of natural material shades bring amazing warmth and beauty to any room in your home. Kalco's Buddha Leaf, Iridescent Shell and Penshell shades are hand-laid by skilled Philippine artisans, while Calcite shades come directly from a mine in Utah. Any of these shades, coupled with their hand-wrought and hand-painted fixtures, creates a luminescent work of art, as individual as nature itself.
In modern homes, it's not unusual to have a range of bathroom types. You might have a small powder room on the main floor that is primarily used by guests, a shared bath for the kids with double bowls and a bathtub, and a master bath with double bowls, a shower and a hot tub. Size and function will impact the amount and type of light that you'll need. You'll also want to consider any sources of natural light such as windows or skylights as well as the rooms ceiling height.
In small powder rooms, a wall fixture may illuminate the entire room. Larger bathrooms typically also need a ceiling fixture to provide good overall lighting. In rooms with lower ceilings, flush or semi-flush ceiling lights are a good solution. Bathrooms with higher ceilings can accommodate hanging fixtures such as small chandeliers or pendant lights.
In most cases, good task lighting for grooming will be needed at the bathroom vanity mirror. Chances are that this is where you dry your hair, shave or apply makeup and you'll want bright, shadow free lighting. You can either install a bath bar over the mirror which will cast light downward or place wall sconces are on either side of the mirror which will provides light from the sides. Consider the number of sinks, the overall width of the vanity and the type of mirror when determining which type of fixture is the best choice for your bathroom.
If you decide to go with a bath bar, you'll want it to be around the same width as your mirror and hung about 65" to 70" from the floor with the mirror 1" to 5" below the bottom of the fixture. If your vanity has two sinks, you can either install one fixture over each sink or one larger fixture that spans both bowls. If you go with wall sconces, you'll want to install one on either side of the mirror, placing them at least 28" apart and at an equal height of somewhere between 60" to 70" from the floor.
Rustic Lodge Styling
The Rustic Lodge design style is all about creating casual, simple living spaces that are in touch with nature. It's reminiscent of when Americans first began to earn enough money that they could take time away from their daily routines and relax in the country. The style emphasizes the use of unrefined, natural elements and the look is achieved through the use of rough-hewn wood, natural metals with forge-like features and heavily textured surfaces.
