The Kidshine Collection
Kidshine Lights are overhead lights made from double thick glass that has been silkscreened with colorful designs. The glass is then heated, gently curved and finally sandblasted to form a rich and lustrous texture. Each light has a generous 17-inch diameter and comes with easy-to-install ceiling-mounted electric fixtures fitted for three 60 Watt bulbs.
In modern homes, it's not unusual to have a range of bathroom types. You might have a small powder room on the main floor that is primarily used by guests, a shared bath for the kids with double bowls and a bathtub, and a master bath with double bowls, a shower and a hot tub. Size and function will impact the amount and type of light that you'll need. You'll also want to consider any sources of natural light such as windows or skylights as well as the rooms ceiling height.
In small powder rooms, a wall fixture may illuminate the entire room. Larger bathrooms typically also need a ceiling fixture to provide good overall lighting. In rooms with lower ceilings, flush or semi-flush ceiling lights are a good solution. Bathrooms with higher ceilings can accommodate hanging fixtures such as small chandeliers or pendant lights.
In most cases, good task lighting for grooming will be needed at the bathroom vanity mirror. Chances are that this is where you dry your hair, shave or apply makeup and you'll want bright, shadow free lighting. You can either install a bath bar over the mirror which will cast light downward or place wall sconces are on either side of the mirror which will provides light from the sides. Consider the number of sinks, the overall width of the vanity and the type of mirror when determining which type of fixture is the best choice for your bathroom.
If you decide to go with a bath bar, you'll want it to be around the same width as your mirror and hung about 65" to 70" from the floor with the mirror 1" to 5" below the bottom of the fixture. If your vanity has two sinks, you can either install one fixture over each sink or one larger fixture that spans both bowls. If you go with wall sconces, you'll want to install one on either side of the mirror, placing them at least 28" apart and at an equal height of somewhere between 60" to 70" from the floor.
